Purpose
Coverage wave 2 — back-fill next batch of <90% files to >=90% with real tests via test-writer agents
Work log
- Launched coverage wave 2 (workflow wz4palq2n): 9 test-writer agents, slots 1-9, targeting the next-heaviest <90% files after wave 1 at 2026-07-05 04:42
Details:
- Targets: tools/ast_query_cli.py (0%!), session/hooks/session_auto_start_hook.py, kernel/cli_main.py, agents/volks/qa/volk.py, gateway/server.py, agents/tool_registry.py, agents/volks/qa/_testgen.py, orchestrator/pipeline_kernel.py, tools/ast_query.py. Wired agentType=test-writer so the new roster's fix-code-dont-fake persona reinforces the brief. Will review every source diff before committing, then wave 3.
- Fixed test-writer agent loading (symlinked repo .claude/agents into ~/.claude/agents; root cause = claude launched from /home/mohamed so project subdir was never scanned); confirmed all 7 roster agents now registered; relaunched wave 2 (w6ft0yh5u) on the real test-writer agentType after discarding 3 broken partials from the reload-killed run at 2026-07-05 04:52
- Fixed test-writer agent discovery + relaunched wave 2 on the real agent (w6tt3pyjo) at 2026-07-05 04:52
Details:
- Root cause: claude launched from /home/mohamed, so only ~/.claude/agents was scanned (didn't exist); repo's .claude/agents is a non-scanned subdir. Fix: symlinked all 7 roster agents into ~/.claude/agents (repo=source of truth). Verified post-reload: auditor/builder/test-writer/reviewer/refactorer/lint-fixer/wirer all registered. Reload stopped the inline-brief wave mid-flight (0 agents completed, no source touched, 3 partial test files) -> reverted to clean baseline -> relaunched 9 test-writer agents, confirmed spawned (no agentType error). Documented location requirement in plans/agent-roster.md.
- Fanned out 3 read-only design investigations in parallel with coverage wave 2 at 2026-07-05 05:07
Details:
- While wave 2 (w6tt3pyjo, 9 test-writer agents) runs: (1) OpenRouter Claude-invokable tool design investigation [task #26]; (2) provider-protocol split-brain audit via auditor agent [task #24]; (3) codegen/Jinja optimization inventory + Jinja2 research [task #23]. All read-only (no code edits) so zero conflict with the wave or the AST toolkit it uses. Opus synthesizes each into a plans/ design doc as they return. Also filed P3: test-review.py:176 latent .body pyright defect (lint-fixer target, post-wave).
- Launched coverage wave 3 (wyq1bayo6): 9 test-writer agents on next-heaviest files, excluding agents/volks/ (user's concurrent analyst work) + the 16 wave-1/2 files at 2026-07-05 05:50
Details:
- Targets: harness/cli.py (50%!), gateway/handlers/{session,projects,ultimatetui,knowledge}.py, knowledge_graph/kg_context.py, kernel/dispatcher.py, orchestrator/pipeline_runner.py, core/threading/test_executor.py. First wave running on the registered test-writer agentType (confirmed spawned). Will review every source diff before commit; coordinate since user commits in parallel.
Artifacts
- plans/openrouter-tool-design.md - plans/provider-protocol-reconciliation.md - plans/jinja-codegen-optimization.md
Decisions
- OpenRouter tool = Bash CLI (scripts/ask_openrouter.py) + thin skill, NOT an MCP server: Repo has zero MCP infra; convention is script-CLIs (perplexity_search.py precedent) + skills; reuses OpenRouterAdapter in ~5 lines with zero new deps. Build gated on user approval (exfiltrates context to 3rd-party models). at 2026-07-05 05:09
- Provider split-brain: keep core.protocols.providers canonical; keep volk_id (not agent_id); ClaudeCLIAdapter needs additive get_models/supports_capability: SPEC-103 landed only in core.protocols; AGENTS.md#5 renames CLASS names (I(X)->XProtocol) not the volk_id field; volk is 178-file convention; ClaudeCLI genuinely lacks the 2 methods (real code, not a rename). 3-file mechanical swap; execution deferred until wave2+openrouter-builder finish. at 2026-07-05 05:17
- gen-traces = verify gate against authoritative SPECs, NOT the plan's RTM-driven auto-stamp: generate_rtm.py generates the RTM FROM the code's @traces (extract_traces_from_ast), so the RTM is a projection of @traces, not an independent authority — verifying @traces against it is circular, and no auto-derivable symbol->requirement mapping exists to stamp from. Correct design: verify gate against specs/*/spec.md reporting untraced REQs (measured ~284 gap: 4913 spec vs 4629 traced), dangling @traces, malformed @traces. Safe, CI-integrable, non-circular. Drop the risky mass-stamp of 5361 decorators. Full design: scratchpad/gen-traces-design.md at 2026-07-05 15:00
Achievements
- Coverage wave 2: 9 files to >=90% (321 tests), reviewed all 5 source diffs, caught+fixed a real bug (ast_query orchestrata_by_package flatten) + its tautological test that the agent missed, plus 4 agent-found bugs (neo4j leak, path leak, AttributeError, redis/pipeline). Committed 84699041.
- Wave 2 reviewed + landed: 9 files >=90% (347 tests), 6 real bugs fixed (path-leak, Neo4j-driver leak, AttributeError guard, dead redis factory, pipeline error-reporting, stages_completed always-0 + its enshrined-bug test). Caught 3 source edits agents mis-reported as source_changed=False. Built OpenRouter tool. Fixed test-review.py false-positives at root.
- Coverage wave 3: 8 files to >=90% (218 tests, committed 591eab32); reviewed 5 source diffs incl. undeclared kg_context change; 6 real bugs fixed (cheetahclaws route_command 100% broken, RPCError arg-swap, pipeline_runner retry-dedup, session pubsub annotation, kg unicode). dispatcher held at 87.9% (delegating _dispatch_http). Concurrent session active - scoped commits defensively.
- Coverage wave 4: 9 files to >=90% (committed 72b7daf7). Fixed log_work dict->list[str] contract bug + 6 pre-existing pyright errors (pipeline_session session.controller optional import, prolog_bridge janus term typing). Recovered prolog_bridge from a stash mishap (pyright non-zero exit broke my && git stash pop).
- Root-caused + killed the 'phantom second session': a background FORK of this session (roster source=slash 'Session restart', --permission-mode auto, same .jsonl) that autonomously ran/committed coverage waves in parallel and corrupted the git stash stack. Killed fork+daemon (605221/605269/605197) AND cleared ~/.claude/daemon/roster.json (backed up) to stop the daemon re-adopting/respawning it — process-kill alone respawned. Saved a global memory (runaway-bg-fork-permission-auto). Earlier-killed pid 25716 was innocent (wrong target).
- Resolved ALL fork residue (8 uncommitted test files) to >=90%, gated + scoped-committed: prolog_gate 92 / pipeline_checkpoint 100 / neo4j_node_mixins 98 / prolog_interface 99 / grpc_client 98; core/interfaces memory+volk 0..75->100 (+ BaseService TYPE_CHECKING visibility fix); core/tracing/context.py 0->100 (+ IterationTracer finalizer AttributeError fix); plugin/interfaces.py 100% made type-sound (theater->Bare subclasses). Removed T5-violating redundant test_tracing_context.py. Fixed test-review.py docstring T8/T15 false-positive at root.
- Coverage Wave 1 complete (reliable map = 63 modules <90%): 8 test-writer agents + tiny-module pass landed ~15 modules — ast_query (already 100%, map false-neg), runtime_main 90, driver_factory 100, anthropic_adapter 100 (+real tool_use-dropped bug fix per SPEC-011/103), stardog 100, kernel/cli 100, impact/cli 100, gateway/test_metrics 98; deleted 2 DEAD shadowed modules (core/config.py, core/enums.py — package shadows the file), omitted */main entry shims, covered threading/evaluators-base re-export shims. Fixed pre-existing failing test_switch_to_claude (Concierge=haiku deliberate). Filed SPEC-028 model divergence + 2 anthropic tool-forwarding/weak-test items.
- Coverage Waves 2-7 complete: all 47 sub-90% modules committed to >=90% across ~50 test-writer agents (60 total coverage commits incl Wave 1). Real bugs fixed along the way: Prolog injection (prolog_facts _check_safe_atom), dead checkpoint-lookup feature (session/cli/pipeline wired to real kernel store), leaked timed-out pytest subprocess (gateway/test_runner kill+reap), broken create_relationship(properties) MERGE Cypher (neo4j_client), dropped graph_context in Documentor volk, stale-HOME _QWEN_CANDIDATES, aider CLI-not-found spec message, several from_dict->Self type fixes, Anthropic tool_use dropped (Wave 1). Killed+relaunched one hung agent (_stage_session). Final clean full-suite verification running (parallel=true contamination guard).
- AST Phase-1: fixed depth-1 gate bypass in untyped/dead-params/call-graph (closed CI ratchet bypass), typed the 17 nested-scope funcs it revealed, hardened apply_pattern_inplace (ast.parse guard + multi-line-sig insert) and move_symbol (imports into existing dest + conditional warning), parenthesized except-tuple. 3 commits + Commit B pending test verify.
- AST Phase-1 complete: all toolkit defects fixed + verified across 8 commits (gate-bypass recursion #1, 17 typed funcs, apply_pattern_inplace guard #3, except-tuple #4, move_symbol imports #5, decorator-faithful interface #8, SourceASTParser detection #2, value-agnostic enum tests #6, deterministic generate_pytest #7, 20 port-critical core tests #10). #9 skipped (low value); #11 gen-stub deferred to Phase-2. Real bugs found: ParamInfo.default never populated, is_abstract always False, enum .value assertion fragile, generate_pytest non-deterministic.
- Phase-2 gen-serde complete (4 commits): dataclass to_dict/from_dict emitter + field-coverage drift gate (--check --max N). The gate found 2 real issues: (1) a from_ keyword-avoidance-rename false-positive -> fixed the gate to be value-based (self.field read) not key-name-based; (2) MemoryEntry.embedding genuinely absent from serde -> confirmed INTENTIONAL (embedding stored separately in hot_store vector store, dropped from RPC), documented it + added a serde_exclude machine-readable opt-out so the gate is CI-usable at --max 0 (now 0 drift, 20 checked, 11 unverifiable). 62 tests. gen-traces (verify gate) delegated next.
- AST Phase-2 generator trio complete + committed (3 scoped commits): gen-enum (StrEnum/IntEnum/Enum from a member list, optional @traces), gen-protocol (Protocol/ABC/skeleton-impl from a class's public API, decorator-faithful, <Class>Protocol naming per decision #5), and earlier check-traces + gen-serde. Each 100%-covered, ruff/pyright(36)/test-review clean. Provider-protocol reconciliation (task #4) delegated to a wirer: 16->4 pyright errors on client.py+provider_manager.py (5 register_provider + get_metadata GONE; remaining 4 are pre-existing out-of-scope), fork-A agent_id->volk_id, fork-B ClaudeCLIAdapter ProviderConfig+get_models+supports_capability, +6-adapter conformance test; verifying its suite before commit.
- AST Phase-2 generator surface COMPLETE — all 6 generators shipped + committed: gen-serde, check-traces, gen-enum, gen-protocol, gen-volk, gen-facade (each 100%-covered, ruff/pyright-36/test-review clean). Twin-collapse (task #7) underway: Pass 1 committed (protocols stub bodies + @runtime_checkable + ComponentScope + VOLK_RUNTIME + memory-store LSP bug fix; pyright 9->0, removed a mypy-ignore pragma). Pass 2a running (correct protocols agent->volk vocab so twins become structurally identical — zero production consumers, contained to protocols/* + tests). Pass 2b designed (move HealthStatus into protocols, reverse the cross-imports, alias interfaces->protocols; fixes the postman get_metadata bug). Pass 2c = the MemoryEntry dataclass-vs-pydantic decision (keep embedding-excluding semantics).
- interfaces->protocols twin-collapse complete (Pass 2a-2d): all core/interfaces/.py now thin aliases over core/protocols/ (base/components/decoupling/volk/memory/providers); single source of truth, one-way dependency, postman get_metadata bug fixed; trees pyright 0, gen-serde 0 drift, standards clean
