Threading utilities for orchestrata-ultimate.
The free-threaded execution and test-running machinery of core: the project's answer to pytest-xdist deadlocking its suite, described in the core narrative. By role:
- Pool: thread_pool, with
ThreadPoolManagerand its tracked tasks. - Runner: test_executor, which batches test modules into pytest subprocesses, packs them by estimated duration, parses JUnit and attributes results to modules. failure_detail supplies full failure text with secrets redacted.
- Observation: pytest_live_observer is a pytest plugin that logs events durably and broadcasts sessions, and pytest_live_reader is its pytest-free reader.
- Planning: test_scheduler is a constraint-based scheduler, used by
scripts/schedule_tests.pyand not yet part of the runner.
Entry points are the scripts run_tests, run_tests_streaming, run_tests_threadpool and observe_pytest. Flow: the script creates a ParallelTestExecutor, each batch subprocess loads the live observer, and the executor merges JUnit and live-log results. The package root re-exports the pool and executor. Start with test_executor's module docstring.
