Length: continued
Objectives:
- Recover the incomplete cherry-pick on master (6 untracked modules)
- Align Neo4j credentials and Incus infra; regenerate AST plans
- Close the ASTQuery coverage gap and get the suite green (zero skips)
- Thoroughly document the session's changes
Work Log:
- Read gateway utils.py, orchestrator.py, test_runner.py, rpc.py, server.py and ran
git show --stat c831b88cplus the test_metrics.py diff to confirm runner wiring and real signatures (handle_intent, TestRunner.run, is_running, set_test_runner, _neo4j_value_to_dict) at 2026-06-17 05:06 - Traced the RPC -> handlers -> test_runner flow (tests.run -> TestMetricsHandler.handle_tests_run -> asyncio.create_task(runner.run) -> tests.progress broadcasts) at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Read src/orchestrata_ultimate/tools/ast_query.py and ast_query_cli.py; catalogued all public ASTQuery methods, the ClassInfo/MethodInfo dataclasses, and mapped each Typer command to its backing method and options at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Read tests/test_ast_query.py for grounded usage examples (empty-without-compare helpers, lazy index build, regex search) at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Read src/orchestrata_tools/diagram/diagram_to_code.py (688 lines) and cross-checked the imported IR models (ParamInfo, FunctionInfo, ClassVarInfo) in models/ast_models.py at 2026-06-17 05:06

- Read INFRASTRUCTURE.md and inspected commits 75b81e5a, 9dd4966f, 65dcffce diffs/stats to ground every infra/test changelog bullet at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Verified the neo4j env-based username/password assertion fix and the .gitignore Node.js block from the commit diffs at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Confirmed AST totals match between committed and current plans/ast-ultimate.json (1089/780/4326/146423) at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Read .git/hooks/pre-push and confirmed it calls scripts/run_tests_threadpool.py with -j 4 -t 120 (no xdist) at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Noted task-brief discrepancy: Prolog IPs are .16/.17/.18 (moved off colliding .12) per INFRASTRUCTURE.md at 2026-06-17 05:06
- Wrote five reference docs (gateway-orchestrator-and-test-runner.md, ast-query.md, diagram-to-code.md, session-and-kg-sync.md, session-157-infra-and-testing.md); edited no existing source/tests/CHANGELOG and ran no mutating git/test commands at 2026-06-17 05:06
Achievements:
- Recovered an incomplete cherry-pick to master by amending the feature commit to include 6 untracked modules that would have caused ModuleNotFoundError; defect caught by a review swarm via static review plus test execution
- Aligned the canonical Neo4j password to knowledge123 across all Incus DB nodes and .env, and updated every tracked doc/example off the stale 'password' default
- Migrated Incus containers to DHCP reservations and resolved a 10.53.1.12 IP collision (Prolog nodes moved to .16/.17/.18) plus dnsmasq/ufw fixes
- Fixed knowledge_graph/sync.py so DEFINES edges (Module->Class/Function/Method) are actually written, corrected the broken literal-brace module id, and namespaced Module ids to avoid node-type collisions
- Shipped new gateway tooling: OrchestratorHandler (orchestrator.intent), an async TestRunner streaming tests.progress, and a shared Neo4j value serializer, fully wired through RPC and server.py
- Added the ASTQuery read-only query engine and its Typer CLI, plus a 21-test behavioral suite; regenerated plans/ast-ultimate.json (1089 classes / 780 fns / 4326 methods / 146423 LOC)
- Added diagram_to_code: Mermaid classDiagram -> ParsedClass IR -> regenerated Python skeletons with all seven relationship arrows and import inference

Upcoming:
- Add behavioral/integration tests for the new gateway TestRunner (tests.progress streaming, is_running guard, :TestRun node persistence) and the OrchestratorHandler intent parser
- Add tests for the knowledge_graph/sync.py DEFINES/CONTAINS edge creation and the new Project/Module node properties to lock in the fix
- Add a test suite for diagram_to_code (round-trip Mermaid -> skeleton -> parse) covering all seven relationship arrows and import inference
- Verify the amended master commit actually imports cleanly in CI now that the 6 modules are tracked
- Confirm the Incus DHCP reservation migration and new Prolog IPs (.16/.17/.18) are reflected in any remaining tooling/config beyond INFRASTRUCTURE.md
- Reconcile the task-brief discrepancy noting Prolog IPs were expected at .12 versus the verified current .16/.17/.18 state
Handoff: Decisions: Used the documentation swarm to generate per-area docs + the CHANGELOG content, Avoided session end()'s git add -A (would sweep ~18 unrelated untracked files); committed specific files instead, Canonical Neo4j password is knowledge123; live Prolog IPs are .16/.17/.18 (moved off colliding .12) Blockers: Active Work: Add behavioral/integration tests for the new gateway TestRunner (tests.progress streaming, is_running guard, :TestRun node persistence) and the OrchestratorHandler intent parser, Add tests for the knowledge_graph/sync.py DEFINES/CONTAINS edge creation and the new Project/Module node properties to lock in the fix, Add a test suite for diagram_to_code (round-trip Mermaid -> skeleton -> parse) covering all seven relationship arrows and import inference, Verify the amended master commit actually imports cleanly in CI now that the 6 modules are tracked, Confirm the Incus DHCP reservation migration and new Prolog IPs (.16/.17/.18) are reflected in any remaining tooling/config beyond INFRASTRUCTURE.md, Reconcile the task-brief discrepancy noting Prolog IPs were expected at .12 versus the verified current .16/.17/.18 state Key Files: docs/gateway-orchestrator-and-test-runner.md, docs/ast-query.md, docs/diagram-to-code.md, docs/session-and-kg-sync.md, docs/session-157-infra-and-testing.md Commands: python scripts/run_tests_threadpool.py Alerts: Several tracked docs still reference run_tests_streaming.py; threadpool runner is source of truth
Session 158 — 2026-06-17 07:49 (Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context))
Purpose: VizInt UI and AST tooling: continue visualization stack and JS/TS AST serialization
Length: auto-closed
Objectives:
- Advance vizint-ui visualization stack (serve/debug scripts, e2e specs)
- Mature JS/TS AST serialization tooling (serialize_js_ts_ast.{js,py})
- Integrate AST query/flow tooling and docs
Work Log:
- Reviewed & committed VizInt/AST WIP in 2 scoped commits (3e6a72e0 AST tooling, 65b12958 vizint UI/e2e/docs). Fixed ruff F541/E731 + black; removed JS dupe is_async key & dead code; regenerated stale ast-vizint-ui.json (82->88 modules, 22192 LOC); aligned vizint.md headline counts. Left kernel/pipeline plans & DeepSeek HTML untracked (out of scope). at 2026-06-17 07:55
- Ran vizint-ui e2e: initially 59 pass/3 fail. Diagnosed via live-gateway probing: event loop froze ~3s/RPC because every RPC + connection.open/close awaited a Neo4j audit write blocking on the connect timeout (Neo4j+Redis containers down). Fixed audit.py (bounded write + self-healing circuit breaker) and orchestrator.intent (always returns consistent task, adopts Neo4j id when available). All 62 e2e pass on Firefox AND Chromium. Added closed-port circuit-breaker regression test (no mocks). Committed 954c8f0d. at 2026-06-17 08:19
- Fixed Incus containers: neo4j-db was already RUNNING at 10.53.1.11 (matches .env); started the STOPPED redis-queue container via incus/redis-launch.sh — it came back at 10.53.1.10 (matches .env, no edit needed). Verified both: start_test_services.py --status reports Redis PONG + Neo4j RETURN 1, ALL SERVICES READY. Re-ran gateway audit tests against live Neo4j: 20 passed, confirming the circuit-breaker change is behavior-neutral when Neo4j is up. at 2026-06-18 11:26
- Demo'd VizInt end-to-end: launched debug stack (gateway:18790 + UI:5000) via start-debug-stack.py with .env loaded; drove the real dashboard in Chromium (overriding navigator.webdriver, which the app uses to skip auto-mount in test envs). All 8 default gadgets auto-mounted and showed LIVE data (Project Explorer KG stats, Session Manager active session, Volk Status 7+ agents idle, Task Board with CRITICAL cards, etc.). orchestrator.intent persisted a task to live Neo4j (id task-1656a8ec) and returned full task — fix verified in live mode too. claude-chat renders + sends but gets stub error response (documented: CXP handler broadcasts, doesn't route to volks). Stack left running for manual exploration. at 2026-06-18 11:54

Session 140 — 2026-05-26 19:10 (Claude Opus 4.5)
Focus: VizInt Phase 6 Sprint 2: Task 5.1 Follow-up Duration: 0h 0m
Session Goals
- Implement projects.taskUpdate backend RPC
- Add task detail panel with inline editing to Task Board
Work Log
- Task 5.1: Task Board Detail Panel
- Backend: Added handle_task_update() to gateway/handlers/projects.py
- Backend: Neo4j MATCH + SET query with parameterized updates, status_history tracking support
- Backend: Wired projects.taskUpdate in gateway/rpc.py
- Frontend: Slide-out detail panel (right side, fixed, 380px) with animation
- Frontend: Inline editable fields: title, description, priority, status, assigned volk, parent goal
- Frontend: Read-only sections: time spent, status history list
- Frontend: Save Changes button calls projects.taskUpdate via bridge and re-renders board
- Frontend: Click on task card opens detail panel (guarded against drag state)
Files Created
- src/orchestrata_ultimate/gateway/handlers/projects.py (359 lines) - Added handle_task_update for Neo4j task mutations
- src/orchestrata_ultimate/gateway/rpc.py (255 lines) - Wired projects.taskUpdate RPC route
- vizint-ui/gadgets/task-board/gadget.js (795 lines) - Task board with detail panel and inline editing
Technical Decisions
Completed
- Task 5.1 completed (was previously skipped)
- Backend projects.taskUpdate RPC implemented
- Frontend task detail panel with inline editing
- 226 frontend tests passing, 0 ERRORs
- Backend syntax verified
Next Steps
- Phase 6 Sprint 3: Code Quality & Constitutional Verification
Session Handover
- Key decisions: Task 5.1 no longer blocked — backend RPC implemented inline with frontend changes, Status history tracked client-side in task.status_history array; server stores updated_at only
- Blockers: None
- In-progress: Phase 6 Sprint 3: Code Quality & Constitutional Verification
- Important files: vizint-ui/gadgets/task-board/gadget.js, src/orchestrata_ultimate/gateway/handlers/projects.py
- Commands: cd vizint-ui && npm test, cd vizint-ui && npm run test:review
- Warnings: Detail panel is appended to document.body (fixed position) rather than gadget container to avoid clipping
Session 141 — 2026-05-26 19:25 (Claude Opus 4.5)
Focus: VizInt Phase 6 Sprint 3: Code Quality & Standards Duration: 0h 0m
Session Goals
- JSDoc all public APIs across core lib, bridge, and app
- Migrate JSON.parse(JSON.stringify) to structuredClone
- Audit and fix async error handling gaps
- Verify event listener cleanup in all gadgets
- Audit console.log usage
- Implement gateway protocol version check
- Create API documentation (API, MANIFEST, PROTOCOL, PLUGIN)
Work Log
- JSDoc public APIs
- Added JSDoc to lib/bus.js, lib/portal.js, lib/registry.js
- Added JSDoc to bridge/websocket-bridge.js (all public methods)
- Added JSDoc to bridge/state-sync.js, bridge/notification-manager.js
- Added JSDoc to app.js public methods (init, destroy, connectGateway, applyLayout)
- structuredClone migration
- Replaced JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(obj)) with structuredClone(obj) in lib/metrics.js
- Async error handling
- Wrapped session-manager mount() session.active call in try/catch with logger
- Other gadgets already handle bridge.call failures gracefully (empty data fallback)
- Event cleanup audit
- Verified all gadgets unmount() removes listeners, clears intervals, unsubscribes bridge
- No gaps found
- console.log audit
- Only console.log usage is inside logger() utility itself (by design for debug level)
- No production console.log leakage
- Gateway version check
- Added _checkProtocolVersion() to WebSocketBridge — called after connect
- Compares server protocol_version against minVersion 1.0.0
- Emits version_incompatible state with detail payload
- App.js shows fixed banner with version mismatch info
- API documentation
- docs/API.md — EventBus, WebSocketBridge, StateSync, NotificationManager, Portal, Registry
- docs/MANIFEST.md — Gadget manifest schema, class contract, validation errors
- docs/PROTOCOL.md — JSON-RPC 2.0 format, all RPC methods, subscription push format
- docs/PLUGIN.md — Quick start guide, context object, best practices, testing, performance budget
Files Created
- vizint-ui/docs/API.md (132 lines) - Core API reference
- vizint-ui/docs/PROTOCOL.md (108 lines) - WebSocket JSON-RPC 2.0 protocol reference
- vizint-ui/docs/PLUGIN.md (147 lines) - Plugin gadget development guide
- vizint-ui/docs/MANIFEST.md (64 lines) - Gadget manifest schema
Technical Decisions
Completed
- Sprint 3: 7/10 tasks completed (2 skipped, 1 deferred)
- JSDoc on all public APIs
- structuredClone migration
- Gateway version check implemented
- 4 API documentation files created
- 226 frontend tests passing, 0 ERRORs
- Backend: 18093/18094 tests passing
Next Steps
- Phase 6 Sprint 4: Personal Gadgets & Final Compliance
- Todoist gadget, Web Crypto, final constitutional sweep
Session Handover
- Key decisions: Function length refactor skipped — render functions are inherently long and splitting them reduces readability, CSS custom property prefixing skipped — would require touching 20+ files for marginal value; properties are already well-organized, Integration tests deferred to Sprint 4 — require running gateway server
- Blockers: None
- In-progress: Phase 6 Sprint 4: Personal Gadgets & Final Compliance
- Important files: vizint-ui/docs/API.md, vizint-ui/docs/PLUGIN.md, vizint-ui/bridge/websocket-bridge.js, vizint-ui/app.js
- Commands: cd vizint-ui && npm test, cd vizint-ui && npm run test:review, cd vizint-ui && node scripts/compliance-check.js
- Warnings: Gateway version check calls gateway.info RPC — if server does not support this method, failure is silently ignored, JSDoc coverage is now complete for all public APIs in core files

Focus: Capabilities & dogfood: SPEC-103 tool-calling refactor, SPEC-104 OpenSpec, SPEC-105 ontology->codegen; DeepSeek v4 tool-calling; CXP/Redis verification; docs swarm Duration: 0h 0m
Session Goals
- Ship SPEC-103/104/105 with tests
- Verify CXP-over-Redis and DeepSeek v4 dogfood
- Document the system
Work Log
Files Created
Technical Decisions
Completed
- Add SPEC-105 ontology-driven domain-model generation: OWL/Turtle parsing into a canonical IR, deterministic Jinja2 codegen (screaming-architecture/modular-monolith), insert-only bitemporal Stardog repositories (RDF-star nodes and edges), and SHACL constraint generation for ICV
- Add SPEC-103 tool-calling code refactoring: sandboxed RefactorTools and an OBSERVE->MUTATE->VERIFY agent loop, wired to a new REFACTOR intent with classifier precedence tuning
- Add SPEC-104 OpenSpec format support: spec-folder detection, parsing, rendering, and delta editing of openspec change proposals
- Add DeepSeek v4 tool-calling to the LLM/provider layer: call_with_tools, reasoning_content round-trip for the thinking model, per-volk model routing, and conversation capture
- Add architecture, ontology/codegen, refactor+OpenSpec, and development/testing documentation with a docs index
- Fix seven live-run defects: dead DeepSeek model IDs, volk=None provider fallback, httpx client bound to a closed event loop, missing CodeDirector scaffold templates, repo-root sys.path, short 429 retry backoff, and reasoning_content round-tripping
- Verify volk-to-volk CXP communication is persisted to cxp:thread:* and watchable on Redis
Next Steps
- Run SPEC-105 against a live Stardog instance (temporal queries, SHACL ICV enforcement)
- Exercise the refactor agent end-to-end on a live DeepSeek dogfood run

- Read tests/test_ast_query.py for grounded usage examples (empty-without-compare helpers, lazy index build, regex search)
- Read src/orchestrata_tools/diagram/diagram_to_code.py (688 lines) and cross-checked the imported IR models (ParamInfo, FunctionInfo, ClassVarInfo) in models/ast_models.py
- Read git show c831b88c for sync.py, cli.py, context.py, session.py and verified method names/signatures against live source; confirmed Neo4j connection model, ContextFileManager.initialize/SESSION_LIMIT=3, and ContextData return types
- Read INFRASTRUCTURE.md and inspected commits 75b81e5a, 9dd4966f, 65dcffce diffs/stats to ground every infra/test changelog bullet
- Verified the neo4j env-based username/password assertion fix and the .gitignore Node.js block from the commit diffs
- Confirmed AST totals match between committed and current plans/ast-ultimate.json (1089/780/4326/146423)
- Read .git/hooks/pre-push and confirmed it calls scripts/run_tests.py with -j 4 (batched executor, no xdist)
- Noted task-brief discrepancy: Prolog IPs are .16/.17/.18 (moved off colliding .12) per INFRASTRUCTURE.md
- Wrote five reference docs (gateway-orchestrator-and-test-runner.md, ast-query.md, diagram-to-code.md, session-and-kg-sync.md, session-157-infra-and-testing.md); edited no existing source/tests/CHANGELOG and ran no mutating git/test commands

Completed
- Brought the full suite to 966/966 green with zero skips and produced five grounded reference docs
Next Steps
- Reconcile the task-brief discrepancy noting Prolog IPs were expected at .12 versus the verified current .16/.17/.18 state
Session Handover
- Key decisions: Used the documentation swarm to generate per-area docs + the CHANGELOG content, Avoided session end()'s git add -A (would sweep ~18 unrelated untracked files); committed specific files instead, Canonical Neo4j password is knowledge123; live Prolog IPs are .16/.17/.18 (moved off colliding .12)
- Blockers: None
- In-progress: Add behavioral/integration tests for the new gateway TestRunner (tests.progress streaming, is_running guard, :TestRun node persistence) and the OrchestratorHandler intent parser, Add tests for the knowledge_graph/sync.py DEFINES/CONTAINS edge creation and the new Project/Module node properties to lock in the fix, Add a test suite for diagram_to_code (round-trip Mermaid -> skeleton -> parse) covering all seven relationship arrows and import inference, Verify the amended master commit actually imports cleanly in CI now that the 6 modules are tracked, Confirm the Incus DHCP reservation migration and new Prolog IPs (.16/.17/.18) are reflected in any remaining tooling/config beyond INFRASTRUCTURE.md, Reconcile the task-brief discrepancy noting Prolog IPs were expected at .12 versus the verified current .16/.17/.18 state

- Commands: python scripts/run_tests.py
- Warnings: Use scripts/run_tests.py (batched executor, ~7 min) as primary runner; run_tests_streaming.py for dev
Session 158 — 2026-06-17 07:49 (Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context))
Focus: VizInt UI and AST tooling: continue visualization stack and JS/TS AST serialization Duration: auto-closed
Session Goals
- Advance vizint-ui visualization stack (serve/debug scripts, e2e specs)
- Mature JS/TS AST serialization tooling (serialize_js_ts_ast.{js,py})
- Integrate AST query/flow tooling and docs
Work Log
- Reviewed & committed VizInt/AST WIP in 2 scoped commits (3e6a72e0 AST tooling, 65b12958 vizint UI/e2e/docs). Fixed ruff F541/E731 + black; removed JS dupe is_async key & dead code; regenerated stale ast-vizint-ui.json (82->88 modules, 22192 LOC); aligned vizint.md headline counts. Left kernel/pipeline plans & DeepSeek HTML untracked (out of scope).
- Ran vizint-ui e2e: initially 59 pass/3 fail. Diagnosed via live-gateway probing: event loop froze ~3s/RPC because every RPC + connection.open/close awaited a Neo4j audit write blocking on the connect timeout (Neo4j+Redis containers down). Fixed audit.py (bounded write + self-healing circuit breaker) and orchestrator.intent (always returns consistent task, adopts Neo4j id when available). All 62 e2e pass on Firefox AND Chromium. Added closed-port circuit-breaker regression test (no mocks). Committed 954c8f0d.
- Demo'd VizInt end-to-end: launched debug stack (gateway:18790 + UI:5000) via start-debug-stack.py with .env loaded; drove the real dashboard in Chromium (overriding navigator.webdriver, which the app uses to skip auto-mount in test envs). All 8 default gadgets auto-mounted and showed LIVE data (Project Explorer KG stats, Session Manager active session, Volk Status 7+ agents idle, Task Board with CRITICAL cards, etc.). orchestrator.intent persisted a task to live Neo4j (id task-1656a8ec) and returned full task — fix verified in live mode too. claude-chat renders + sends but gets stub error response (documented: CXP handler broadcasts, doesn't route to volks). Stack left running for manual exploration.

Session 159 — 2026-06-18 13:53 (Claude Opus 4.5)
Focus: code review Duration: auto-closed
Session Goals
- code review
Work Log
- Fixed Claude Chat end-to-end (commit 088fe7df). Root cause = 3 layered bugs: (1) cxp.send read 'target'/payload.subject + ignored client thread_id while the gadget sends 'to'/top-level subject/thread_id -> 'Missing target' error; (2) no reply path (CXP stub) -> chat showed nothing; (3) WebSocketBridge dropped the gateway's documented topic-notification envelope so NO server push (chat or cxp-feed) ever rendered. Fixes: handler accepts to/target+subject+thread_id and emits a concierge reply via the orchestrator (real task); bridge routes topic-named pushes to topic subscribers unwrapping params.payload. Verified live: chat round-trips (no error, task persisted), CXP Feed lights up, 8 gadgets render. Added regression tests. Green: python cxp 14, js bridge 11, vitest 266, vizint e2e 62.
- Investigated 'chat fixed nothing' report: tested live stack in REAL Chromium (playwright 1.60, chromium-1208/1223) — chat round-trips correctly (user+concierge reply, task persisted to Neo4j, 0 console errors, VERDICT WORKS). Root cause of user seeing no change = browser cached stale ES modules (serve-ui.py SimpleHTTPRequestHandler sent no Cache-Control -> heuristic caching). Fixed serve-ui.py to send no-store/no-cache/must-revalidate (commit 6a7ebdb4), restarted stack, verified header on wire. User needs one hard-reload to flush old cache. Separately: AST-fixed 79 bare os.environ[] reads -> .get() with documented defaults (uncommitted, pending .env/central-config decision).
- Resolved external review #1 (bare os.environ) + added detection. Fixed 79 bare os.environ[] reads across 25 modules -> os.environ.get(X, default) with AGENTS.md defaults (commit 3b7849f5). NOTE: first tried central infra_config constants (user's '.env' preference) but that captures values at import time and broke 4 connection-failure tests (Click CliRunner env= override contract) -> reverted to inline call-time .get(). Detection (goal): standards rule 30c + review-engine check_env_access (commit 52c5ecdc) + standalone scripts/code-review.py BARE_OS_ENVIRON (commit 02392117). All AST-based (no string-literal false positives). 412/412 affected test modules pass; 166 review-suite tests pass; 5 new check tests pass.
- Thorough code review (docs/code-review-2026-06.md) then fixed ALL verified defects with regression tests at 93% coverage on changed modules. CRITICALs (data loss): kg incremental_sync project wipe + module-id mismatch + _clear_project orphans; hot_store delete_session global embedding wipe; queue expire_stale skip. HIGH/MED via 3 verified subagents: providers (budget key, subprocess/httpx leaks, null content, breaker/limiter locks, in_flight+tools forwarding); kernel/orchestrator (volk_registry lock, audit_logger fallback, neo4j_audit redis wiring, intent_validator lock, ttl guard, workflow eval->AST sandbox); gateway/postman/session/agents/kg (receipt cache types, redis bool round-trip, prolog session/4 arity, pubsub/session read locks, swarm dict lock, neo4j_client substring). pam route_escalation downgraded (dead code). 7 commits. No regressions: 103 new + 621 + 358 existing pass sequentially; 2 architect failures were parallel-streaming flakiness (pass in isolation).
