Amendment to Execution Plan: Automated CI/CD Integration
Overview
This amendment adds fully automated CI/CD capabilities to the existing execution plan by integrating GitLab deployment into the phased approach.
New Phase 0: CI/CD Infrastructure Setup
Prerequisites
- Incus installed and configured
- Sufficient system resources (8GB+ RAM for GitLab)
Step A1: Create GitLab Infrastructure Directory
mkdir -p /home/mohamed/workspace/orchestrata-ultimate/incus/gitlab
Step A2: Deploy GitLab Container (Docker-based approach)
# Launch GitLab container with proper resources
incus launch images:ubuntu/22.04 gitlab-server --storage default --config limits.cpu=4 --config limits.memory=8GB
# Attach network
incus network attach incusbr0 gitlab-server eth0
# Configure static IP (optional but recommended)
incus config device set gitlab-server eth0 ipv4.address 10.222.9.200
Step A3: Deploy GitLab Using Docker (Reliable Method)
# Use the docker-deploy script
./incus/gitlab/docker-deploy.sh gitlab-server
# This will:
# 1. Install Docker and Docker Compose in the container
# 2. Create a docker-compose.yml for GitLab
# 3. Start GitLab with proper configuration
# 4. Wait for services to be ready
Step A4: Configure GitLab Runner
# Install GitLab Runner (after GitLab is running)
incus exec gitlab-server -- curl -L https://packages.gitlab.com/install/repositories/runner/gitlab-runner/script.deb.sh | incus exec gitlab-server -- bash
incus exec gitlab-server -- apt-get install -y gitlab-runner
# Register runner for orchestrata-ultimate project
# This will be done after project creation
Integration with Existing Phases
Modified Phase 0: Foundation (now Phase 1)
All existing Phase 0 steps remain unchanged but are renumbered as Phase 1.
Modified Tier 1: Agents That Talk and Think (now Tier 2)
All existing Tier 1 steps remain unchanged but are renumbered as Tier 2.
Modified Tier 2: Coordination and Governance (now Tier 3)
All existing Tier 2 steps remain unchanged but are renumbered as Tier 3.
Modified Tier 3: Knowledge and Memory (now Tier 4)
All existing Tier 3 steps remain unchanged but are renumbered as Tier 4.
Modified Tier 4: External Surface (now Tier 5)
All existing Tier 4 steps remain unchanged but are renumbered as Tier 5.
New Tier 1: CI/CD Pipeline Setup
Sub-phase 1.1: Repository Configuration
- Create orchestrata-ultimate project in GitLab
- Configure GitLab CI/CD variables (LLM keys, environment configs)
- Set up protected branches and merge request rules
- Configure GitLab Pages for documentation
Sub-phase 1.2: Pipeline Definition
- Create
.gitlab-ci.ymlwith multi-stage pipeline:build: Install dependencies, run static analysistest: Run unit tests with coverageintegration: Run integration tests with Incus containersdeploy: Deploy to staging environmentrelease: Create release tags and artifacts
Sub-phase 1.3: Automated Testing Infrastructure
- Set up Incus test containers for each phase
- Configure GitLab Runner with Incus access
- Create test environment templates
- Implement parallel test execution
Sub-phase 1.4: Monitoring and Notification
- Configure pipeline failure notifications
- Set up performance monitoring
- Implement automated rollback on failure
- Configure security scanning
Benefits of This Amendment
1. Fully Automated Deployment
- Single command to deploy entire CI/CD infrastructure
- Automated GitLab installation and configuration
- Pre-configured runners for all test phases
2. Integrated Testing
- Incus containers for isolated test environments
- Parallel execution across all tiers
- Automatic resource management
3. Production-Ready Pipeline
- Multi-stage deployment with rollback capability
- Environment-specific configurations
- Security scanning and compliance checks
4. Scalable Infrastructure
- Resource allocation based on service requirements
- Network isolation between services
- Persistent storage for critical data
Implementation Commands
Quick Start (Phases 0-A1 through 0-A3):
# Execute all CI/CD setup steps
./incus/gitlab/launch.sh gitlab-server
./incus/gitlab/docker-deploy.sh gitlab-server
Verification:
# Check GitLab status
incus exec gitlab-server -- docker ps
# Access GitLab UI
echo "GitLab available at: http://10.222.9.200:8080"
# Check runner status
incus exec gitlab-server -- gitlab-runner status
Next Steps
After CI/CD infrastructure is deployed:
- Proceed with original Phase 0 (Foundation) as Phase 1
- Configure GitLab project and CI/CD pipeline
- Integrate automated testing with Incus containers
- Deploy each tier through the CI/CD pipeline
This amendment ensures that the entire porting process is fully automated, reproducible, and production-ready.
